Director of Supply Chain

What you will be responsible for:

  • Creating and embedding a culture of continuous improvement in Supply Chain operations.
  • Directly supervise, train, develop and evaluate a growing supply chain team in the areas of Supply Chain / Purchasing, with dotted lines into Plant Schedulers
  • Coordinate communication and cooperation between production team departments
  • Review and evaluate supply chain and streamline processes and relationships
  • Work with the VP of Operations to develop accurate forecasts, inventory levels, and safety stock to manage on hand and in transit inventory levels
  • Responsible for the direction and coordination of all manufacturing purchasing activities
  • Monitor all inventory levels of raw materials and finished goods, monitor shrink and waste, work with shipping team on delivery coordination of all outgoing orders, and develop SOP’s to further department protocols
  • Further develop key KPI’s to monitor order accuracy, lead-time and customer fill rates
  • Manage forecasting process: Conduct monthly team meetings to review and update forecast
  • Coordinate production planning with the Plant Schedulers in order to provide superior customer service
  • Develop proposals for management team; identify risks and opportunities, and requirements to move forward
  • Work cross-functionally with Sales, Marketing, Finance, Manufacturing and others as necessary.  Coordinate sales and marketing promotional materials as needed.
  • Understanding principals of supply chain activities, including transformation of natural resources, raw materials, and components into a finished product
  • Executing, planning and scheduling of all raw materials to production with a focus on customer demands and business needs
  • Understanding and analyzing financial statements and explain implications of financial ratios and all components to the balance sheet and income statements
  • Calculating projects and organizational cash flow forecasts; explaining value comparisons and return calculations
  • Preparing and presenting visual presentation techniques including charting, histograms and flow sheets
  • Identifying the best operating level (BOL) and the level of capacity a process was designed for
  • Understanding and following a lean management process using tools such as; just-in-time, Kaizen events, Kanban, Value Stream Mapping
  • Understanding industry and government regulations regarding sustainability
  • All other duties as assigned.

Who you are:

  • You have Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Purchasing/Supply Management, Supply Chain Management, Engineering or related field.   MBA preferred.
  • You have 10+  years previous manufacturing and/or supply chain experience.
  • You have previous experience in a food grade facility.
  • You are a self-driven leader who can motivate and coordinate a dynamic team.
  • Supply chain industry association membership and certifications preferred
  • You are comfortable working in a fast paced quickly changing environment
  • You are a strong communicator and comfortable with coordinating across different organizational departments
  • You have a basic understanding of transportation, warehousing, supply-chain execution software and third-party logistics
