Role: 

The System Administrator (SA) is responsible for effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware and software and related infrastructure. This individual participates in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the infrastructure. This individual ensures that system hardware, operating systems, software systems, and related procedures adhere to organizational policy. This individual will assist various teams at Vital Proteins. These activities include the definition of needs, benefits, and technical strategy; research & development within the project life-cycle; technical analysis and design; and support of operations staff in executing, testing and rolling-out the solutions.  This role will operate out of our West Loop location but must be able to travel to multiple locations in the greater Chicago area. 

 

What you will be responsible for:

  • Working with the existing IT department
  • Handling network security audits
  • Asset management for electronic devices, operations and support, maintenance and research and development
  • Helping to develop new operational policies and procedures
  • Writing and reviewing documentation
  • Validating new procedures
  • Monitoring of company infrastructure and networks
  • Managing desktop support and deployments
  • Direct users on how to best handle policies and procedures
  • Accurate data entry and system maintenance to create accurate reporting analysis
  • Working cross departmentally when necessary

 

Who you are:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent work experience
  • 3-5 years of experience in Information Technology
  • You have experience with network and server infrastructure
  • Proficient in OSX, Debian, RHEL, Windows Server 2012R2, Windows 7, and Windows 10
  • You have worked in virtualized environments before
  • You are comfortable in a fast paced quickly changing environment
  • You are a self-starter with proven ability to take initiative and multi-task
  • You have a strong attention to detail, always looking for errors and improving your work
