Freight Fulfillment Associate

This position will be based out of our distribution facility in Bensenville, IL.  Vital Proteins has multiple locations where we manufacture and package collagen nutrition products.


The primary responsibility in this role is to ensure accurate and timely fulfillment and pallet build out for our major account orders.  However, you will be asked to help in a number of different areas within our facility, including parcel order picks, inventory moves and receiving. Basic understanding of mathematical concepts and warehouse procedures is a plus. Background in a food/dietary supplement industry a plus. Ability to work in a strong team based environment is essential. Must be able to report on time to work each day. The freight fulfillment associate operates out of the Vital Proteins warehouse in Bensenville, IL 60106 and reports to the Shipping Manager.

What you will be responsible for:

  • Building freight pallets up to 3,000 lbs.
  • Print and organize shipping documents
  • Prepare pallets for large shipments
  • Work directly with dock personnel to follow quality control procedures outlined by the department
  • Organize outgoing shipments using shipping software programs
  • Print picking tickets
  • Pick inventory on pick tickets
  • Package and label shipments
  • Ensure shipments have correct product, invoice and labels
  • Prepare shipments for carrier pickup
  • Count inventory and enter into the inventory tracking system
  • Update shipping software programs with shipment and tracking information
  • Assist sales and customer support representatives with questions on shipments

Who you are:

  • Must have 1-3 years previous shipping/receiving experience, preferably in a growing company
  • High school diploma, Associates degree preferred 
  • Ability to maintain quality and safety control standards.
  • Ability to read and write in English
  • Basic understanding of warehousing and concepts
  • Must be organized, able to multi-task, and follow direction set by the manager
  • Must have good communication skills and comfortable working will all team members 
  • Must be able to lift 15-20 lb. boxes repeatedly
  • Must be able to stand for extended amounts of time
