Vice President of Operations

Role: 

As the Vice President of Operations you will be responsible for managing the manufacturing, shipping, supply chain, and quality assurance teams. The VP of Operations will play a strategic leadership role while also ensuring the company’s everyday operational activities run smoothly and effectively.  The VP of Operations will take ownership for the entirety of the manufacturing, supply chain, logistics, quality and facilities management.  The individual will develop and execute an integrated strategy related to current and future manufacturing needs and global distribution. The individual will provide leadership for Operations, Manufacturing, Quality, Logistics, and Supply Chain management to ensure smooth manufacturing and distribution of our products.  The VP of Operations will drive a culture that fosters employee engagement, ownership, and collaboration in a rapidly growing, multiple location operations and manufacturing team.

This position reports to the CEO and is a member of the company's leadership team. The leadership team is responsible for the strategic direction of the company.  The Vice President of Operations day to day responsibility shall include general management of all procurement, production, inventory, safety, sanitation, maintenance, quality and logistics activities.  In addition you will be responsible for ensuring all processes and procedures are followed for current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), NSF for Sport, Organic, and Non-GMO certifications. You will also be responsible for ensuring overall organizational quality and safety within our facilities. This position has four direct reports including the Production Manager, Operations Director, Quality Assurance Manager, Supply Chain Manager.  The role will work out of our production facility located in Elk Grove Village and Bensenville - soon to be Franklin Park.

 

What you will be responsible for:

  • Provide daily leadership and direction to the production team to ensure safety, quality and productivity
  • Identify, define and improve company processes and procedures to drive efficiency, quality and safety
  • Define and implement warehouse processes and procedures
  • Development and ownership of cost control reports, cost estimates, and manpower and facilities requirements forecasts
  • Lead the implementation of a warehouse inventory management system within SAP S4/Hana
  • Define staffing, resource, and training requirements for current team
  • Work with the sales, marketing, trade show and customer support teams to ensure on-time organizational support
  • Manage inventory levels within the organization facilities and be able to effectively communicate issues regarding low stock, out of stock, etc to the appropriate teams.
  • Oversees production planning on a weekly basis
  • Ensuring accurate and on time shipping and receiving to maintain a high level of customer standards
  • Develops plans for new areas of technology for the manufacturing functions along with sufficient planning for areas that support the mission of the Corporation within Operations.
  • Defines and recommends objectives in each area of operations. Develops specific short-term and long-term plans and programs, together with supporting budget requests and financial estimates.
  • Development of facility performance against operating plans and business standards

 

Who you are: 

  • 10-20+ years of management experience with at least 5 years within a food production environment
  • Bachelor's degree in industrial engineering, mechanical engineering, or process engineering
  • MBA or graduate degree in industrial or process engineering preferred
  • Significant exposure to warehouse management, supply chain, and logistics
  • Passion about continuous improvement, defining and enhancing operational procedures
  • Natural leadership ability with positive and aspirational characteristics in motivating and mentoring employees
  • Must have prior experience in a food grade facility and be familiar with cGMP certification
  • Must be able to move quickly and understand the necessity for efficiency, quality and speed and develop that culture within the organization
  • Strong analytical skills
