Senior Accountant

Vital Proteins has multiple locations where we manufacture and package collagen nutrition products.


The Senior Accountant role is a multi-functional role that will expose the employee to all business aspects of a growing company.  You will be responsible for various accounting processes such as, payroll, bookkeeping, AP/AR, government sales taxes, budgetary management and special projects. You will be pivotal in creating and analyzing current financial trends to maintain and develop company financial budgets.  The Staff Accountant will report to the Accounting Manager and operate out of our corporate office located in Wicker Park. 


What you will be responsible for:

  • Weekly company payroll, invoice entry, and preparing check runs 
  • Assist with month-end close processes - balance sheet reconciliations, general ledger review, accounts receivable management
  • Create and maintain financial audit of accounting systems and data to correct and reduce errors
  • Performs vendor A/P process
  • Collects appropriate data and to facilitate the filing of federal, state, and local reports and tax returns
  • Assist in developing and preparing budgetary statements and tracking for company departments 
  • Work with the Accounting Manager on departmental projects and implementations to help scale the company financial process

Who you are:

  • You have a bachelors degree in, accounting, finance or a related field
  • 3 - 7 years of previous accounting experience, preferable in a growing company
  • Experience with Quickbooks and SAP preferred
  • Comfortable in a fast paced quickly changing environment
  • You are a self-starter with proven ability to take initiative and multi-task
  • You are passionate about the health, fitness, and/or beauty markets
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, not afraid to speak up and ask questions 
  • Always looking for ways to improve processes, learn and develop the accounting function
  • Strong attention to detail, always looking for errors and improving your work
