Quality Assurance Associate (2nd Shift)

The Quality Assurance Associate’s primary responsibility is to assist in the planning and execution of all quality processes and procedures in support of Vital Proteins Quality Assurance program. The position works cross functionally with the warehouse plant manager, the shipping and receiving team members, the Quality Assurance Manager, and the warehouse staff to ensure quality processes and procedures are well defined and followed. The Quality Assurance Associate will carry out the company vision and mission through his work, as an integral part of the Vital Proteins team.  Reporting to the Quality Assurance Manager, the Quality Assurance Associate will operate out of the Vital Proteins production facility in Elk Grove Village, but will be moving in 2018 to Franklin Park.


What you will be responsible for:

  • Monitor Quality and Inventory transaction integrity accuracy (e.g. stock accuracy and shipment accuracy) on site and provide feedback to shipping and production
  • Partner with leadership in the communication of policies and procedures surrounding Inventory Control & Quality Assurance and follow up to ensure compliance and consistency
  • Understand the system and processes within the warehouse and provide improvement suggestions as needed
  • Sampling of products and materials and sending to 3rd party labs if needed
  • Identify and record incoming materials
  • Make sure batch production records are created and properly filled out
  • Keep track of incoming raw materials and finished products within the system
  • Verify production codes and labels
  • Ensure warehouse staff follow GMP and safe work practices
  • Maintain a clean and safe lab working environment
  • Assure all components and raw materials meet specifications for use in processing of intermediate and final product by documented methods of sampling, testing, formulation, labeling, storage, distribution, and approvals
  • Monitor label declared weights on products and package integrity; Check packages for proper coding to meet company standards
  • Report any process errors, product failures and deviations and record corrective actions and/or preventive actions timely
  • Assist in training production employees on quality requirements to ensure quality standards are met
  • Perform final inspection of finished product to ensure products conform to specifications
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Who you are:

  • Bachelor of Science in related field.
  • Must have 1 + years of previous experience 
  • Background or understanding of general practices within the food, dietary supplement and/or nutraceutical industry a plus
  • Comfortable in a fact paced changing environment and must be able to work independently 
  • Experience with Microsoft office Suite, ERP (SAP preferred), inventory and supply chain software
  • Comfortable with problem solving, must have very strong analytical skills and proven ability to tackle a variety of challenges
  • Must have good communication skills and comfortable working will all team members 
  • Must be able to work 2nd shift - 4pm - 2AM, 4 days a week rotating schedule
