Quality Technician (2nd Shift)

Role:

The Quality Assurance Technician’s primary responsibility is to assist in the execution of quality processes and procedures in support of the Vital Proteins Quality Assurance program. The Quality Assurance Technician will carry out the company vision and mission through his work, as an integral part of the Vital Proteins team.  Reporting to the Quality Assurance Supervisor, the Quality Assurance Technician will operate out of the Vital Proteins production facility in Franklin Park.

What you will be responsible for:

  • Perform food safety activities (ATP and Allergen swabs to verify equipment cleanliness, EMP swabbing)
  • Perform pre-operational inspections and verifications (i.e., line clearance, verification of raw materials, WIPs and packaging components, review of batch-related documentation, label, master case verifications)
  • Assign and verify lot numbers and expiration dates
  • Perform line audits and in-process quality checks (i.e. weight, induction seal, label quality, master case information checks)
  • Collect samples throughout the production run and send them out for microorganism testing with the appropriate transmittal form
  • Ensure the Batch Production Record and production logs are filled out correctly and in real-time
  • Perform CCP checks as specified in the SOP
  • Verify components and weights during the blending batching process
  • Test detergent and sanitizer concentrations
  • Provide assistance during new product trials
  • Perform finish product review
  • Work in conjunction with the production, materials, and warehouse teams to ensure production flow efficiency and the highest quality product possible
  • Create Incident Reports to document any non-compliant process, products or incidents that could impact quality or Food Safety
  • Escalate major quality and any potential food safety issues to the supervisor or manager to initiate a prompt response to any issue
  • Place non-conformant product on Hold
  • Execute all process in accordance with company standard operating procedures and cGMP and adherence to HACCP, GMP, NSF, and SQF programs
  • Maintain a clean working area
  • Other duties as assigned

Who you are:

  • Have a high school diploma/GED (required)
  • High attention to detail
  • Good attitude to work with a team as well as the ability to work independently
  • Able to work with computers and tablets
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced, changing environment
  • Experience working in a GMP environment for food or supplements
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • You are passionate about the health, fitness, and/or beauty markets
  • Can lift 25-50 lbs. on occasion
  • Must be able to read, write, and understand English
