Senior Marketing Director, Vital Performance

Role Description:

The Senior Marketing Director, Vital Performance, is a key member of the Marketing team, leading our efforts to build the Vital Performance brand, its mission, positioning and voice. As a new division of Vital Proteins, Vital Performance is our athlete-focused sub brand that caters to performance athletes ranging from professional sports, triathletes, marathon runners, and gym goers that require sustained energy and endurance. This position will lead all Marketing initiatives for new launches, current product lineup and brand initiatives by collaborating cross-functionally with Innovation, Sales, Creative Ecomm and Social Engagement teams. Additionally, this position will identify and propose key growth strategies, business solutions and retail opportunities based on data, trends and consumer insights. This person is considered the marketing leader for the Vital Performance brand and is instrumental to the success of the line. The role will work out of our West Loop (Chicago, IL) office or remotely in Los Angeles, reporting to the CMO and CEO/founder.

What you will be responsible for: 

  • Define the Vital Performance brand mission, vision and voice, and consumer/target audience, scoping out the foundation of the brand 
  • Bring the Vital Performance brand to life across all marketing channels as the heartbeat of the Vital Performance brand 
  • Lead all Marketing initiatives for new launches, current product lineup and other brand initiatives by working with cross-functional departments, and collaborating internally and externally across all categories to execute go-to-market strategies
  • Develop integrated marketing strategies using consumer insights that inform marketing plans, as well as test the effectiveness of marketing activities
  • Work alongside Innovation team to develop product line-up by providing consumer insights, trends and feedback from key partners and stakeholders
  • Partner with Retail and Sales teams to develop and/or support various initiatives, including partnerships with professional sports teams and/or leagues, athletes and other key stakeholders
  • Build best-in-class marketing programs based on prioritization and annual goals, as well as developing processes and marketing framework for smooth execution across all functions
  • Develop and execute targeted strategies, marketing plans and campaigns 


Who you are:

  • 7+ years of integrated marketing experience and experience managing a team
  • Bachelor's degree required; branding, CPG experience highly valued
  • Ability to manage cross-functional projects and processes with multiple stakeholders
  • Experience leading go-to-market campaigns, from ideation to execution, ideally working with key retailers
  • Experience developing audience messaging, brand voice and integrated marketing campaigns and strategies
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, project management skills and experience in a wide range of marketing disciplines inclusive of managing mass media, social media, print, affiliate marketing, etc.
  • Must have attention to detail and possess critical thinking skills
  • Advanced analytical tools (e.g., Excel) experience
  • Ability to develop metrics, analyze data quantitatively and identify opportunities
  • Creative and innovative thinker, organized, detail-oriented, team player and solution-oriented
  • Self-starter who is comfortable working in a fast-paced and energetic environment 
  • Strong time management and organization skills; able to prioritize and manage multiple projects 
  • Must be able to read write and understand English
