National Account Manager, Mass and Drug

We are looking for a National Account Manager to support our largest most strategic accounts.  This role can be based in Chicago or Bentonville, AK and will report to the Director of Sales- Food, Drug, Mass, Club.  The individual will be instrumental to the support 1-3 of our most strategic accounts and will have global revenue and sell into responsibility.  This individual will own sales penetration and growth strategy planning, will work collaboratively with our Trade Marketing Team on message creation, distribution, training and will work closely with sales operations and sales analyst teams on program ROI and evaluating go to market and category optimization. The role will drive our strategic relevance within the Mass and Drug Channels.  We seek an individual who is familiar with the Walmart universe, has existing relationships, is a team player, has entrepreneur tendencies, excels in fast paced dynamic environments, accepts change, as our culture is a curious one and we continually information gather, evaluate and evolve. 


What you will be responsible for:

  • Build on existing relationship and revenue responsibility for national Mass and Drug accounts
  • Full ownership of major accounts with the ability to manage day to day relationships of buying teams
  • Management of account broker relationships
  • Increasing strategic alignment between Vital Proteins and customer organizations with a focus on executing against an annual and quarterly business revenue plans
  • Working closely with trade marketing management on trade spend and setting appropriate expectations with strategic accounts       
  • Evaluating sales promotional/trade spending and effectively track ROI
  • Planning for, participating in, and supporting trade shows, trade events and major sales events
  • Managing overall accounts P/L

Who you are:

  • You have 5+ years of previous selling experience, preferably in a startup and/or CPG.
  • You have established business cadence with national accounts, preferably Walmart and CVS
  • You have a demonstrated record of success and over achievement
  • Motivated, adaptable and able to work with little direction
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced, growing company and able to adapt to change quickly
  • A self-starter who takes initiative and proactively looks for and suggests improvements
  • You have an innate curiosity and your natural tendency is to act upon it
  • You have great listening, negotiating, and problem-solving skills with a dose of humility
  • You are a student of selling who finds personal satisfaction and joy in closing and building a business
  • You celebrate your success, and the successes of your team even more
  • Well-connected in the health and wellness, fitness or beauty markets and have strategic relationships
  • Willing to travel up to 50% (including nights and weekends)
